the aesthetic dimension of howard barkers art: a frankfurtian approach to scenes from an execution and no end of blame
Vaught’s conjecture on analytic sets
In each of these case the result was shortly or immediately after extended to analytic sets. For this purpose let us write TVC(G,Σ∼ 1 1) if whenever G acts continuously on a Polish space X and A ⊂ X is Σ∼ 1 1 (or analytic) then either |A/G| ≤ א0 or there is a perfect set of orbit inequivalent points in A. Thus we have TVC(G,Σ∼ 1 1) for each of the group in the class mentioned in 0.1-0.4 above. ...
متن کاملOn the Weiss Conjecture for Analytic Semigroups
Let T(t) be an analytic semigroup with generator A on some Banach space. Le Merdy in [12] showed the validity of the so-called Weiss conjecture : C ∈ L(D(A), Y ) is an admissible observation operator if and only if {‖C(λI − A)−1‖ Reλ ≥ α for some α > 0} is a bounded set, is equivalent to the finite-time admissibility of the fractional power (−A)1/2 for A. The proof was essentially based on the ...
متن کاملAn Approach to Hirsch Conjecture
W.M. Hirsch formulated a beautiful conjecture on amaximum of diameters of convex polyhedrawith both fixed dimension and number of facets. This is still unsolved for about 50 years. Here, I suggest a new method of argument from the viewpoint of deformation of polytope. As a candidate of the clue to the complete-proof, there’s some conjectures which are all sufficient for the original problem.
متن کاملAn Approach to the Hirsch Conjecture
W. M. Hirsch proposed a beautiful conjecture on diameters of convex polyhedra, which is still unsolved for about 50 years. I suggest a new method of argument from the viewpoint of deformation and moduli of polytopes. As a consequence, for example, if there are at least 3 disjoint geodisics for all Dantzig figures, as in the 3 dimensional case, the conjecture follows.
